Katheryn Allen is in her senior year as a piano performance major at University of Iowa, where she is the recipient of an Undergraduate Scholar Assistanceship. Currently studying with Uriel Tsachor, her previous teachers include Alan Huckleberry, Chiu-Ling Lin, and Rita Sloan. Ms. Allen has participated in masterclasses with Marcia Bosits, Jon Nakamatsu, Dmitry Rachmanov, Einar Røttingen, and Jack Winerock.

Ms. Allen is the winner of the 2007 Des Moines Symphony Young Artists Competition. She made her concerto debut in March of 2007 with the Des Moines Symphony, performing Listzt Piano Concerto No. 2 in A Major. She has been a featured solist in the Piano Sundays concert series in Iowa City, Iowa, and Music at the Hub in Des Moines, Iowa. During the summer of 2007, Ms. Allen attended the Aspen Music Festival on a full scholarship.

Katheryn Allen has been a finalist in the University of Iowa Concerto Competition, as well as the Fort Dodge Young Artist Competition. In addition, she is an active chamber musician. As a member of the Appasionato Piano Quartet, she won the 2005 University of Iowa Chamber Music Competition. In 2004 she was named the Iowa High School Music Associaton's All-State Accompanist.

Also a commited educator, Ms. Allen has organized and performed in several educational outreach concerts at the University of Iowa. She is Chair of Publicity for the University of Iowa Collegiate Chapter of the Music Teachers National Association, and teaches privately in Iowa City.
